RNA是以DNA的一条链为模板，以碱基互补配对原则，转录而形成的一条单链，主要功能是实现遗传信息在蛋白质上的表达，是遗传信息向表型转化过程中的桥梁。随着研究的不断深入，mRNA、IncRNA、Small RNA、以及microRNA的神秘面纱被慢慢揭开。特别是现今流行的单细胞测序技术（RNA-seq）的兴起，研究者对RNA提取的质量要求变得更加严苛。
